Squarespace and Graphic Design Process.

  • Once we have reviewed your brief and had discussions on the best way forward taking into account example sites, your business and the competition we then have a plan and costs in place to move to the initial build and design stage.

  • The best way to send assets such as images is to a Dropbox account. Site assets (text copy and images) are critical to site development and structure. We can pull copy and page structure out of your current site. Or supply us with a copy document.

If you don’t have a Dropbox account or need assistance with setting that up, please let us know.

We can size all your images but the originals you supply *must* be a minimum size of 1500px on the long edge and saved as 100% quality JPGs. Any downloadable files such as PDFs/brochures etc, will also need to be supplied which can be uploaded to Dropbox as well, or, e-mailed directly to us as attachments.

  • We will create a new Squarespace account to house your site or access your existing one.

We will work on the design and layout based on any material you have sent us to review and other examples.

Once we have a general framework, e.g.: homepage, navigation and some inner pages showing site design and style, we will ask for feedback.

  • We will look to meet any stipulated deadline for your site completion. However, we prefer not to work to specific phases as that stifles the process and constricts the design itself to a ‘phase date’ which is proven to be inefficient. The best results occur from organic development where ideas can be honed and implemented.

As designers we chop and change and explore as many options as we can over the period of the project. This approach, in our experience, produces the best work and allows ideas to breathe and evolve so that you have a beautiful, functional site.

We will of course keep you in the loop throughout your site development and design so that you can provide feedback in the process and know that everything is on track.

  • Other than the quote we have supplied the only other fee involved is the Squarespace subscription. The beauty of Squarespace is that you can manage all the content yourselves going forward. We will always be on hand to help/advise additionally.

We will supply you with a walk-through video of your site on delivering as well as provide support information for reference with tutorials and videos from Squarespace to have on hand.

Note that further work will be charged at an hourly rate but we only foresee you needing us to do additional work should you desire extra functionality/design. Again, normal management can be done site wide yourselves within the platform interface easily, once the design and layout is in place.

  • Designer transfers full reproduction rights to the Client for all mediums for the life of the work. Clients agrees to give permission to Designer to use the website only for the purpose of self promotion as an example of work as appropriate in Designer’s portfolio of work. The Designer agrees to never sell the art to another party or use the work for any use other than previously stated.

  • Required 50% non-refundable deposit on the agreed amount. The remaining 50% is payable on completion of the website.

  • Browser testing no longer means attempting to make a website look the same in browsers of different capabilities or on devices with different size screens. It means ensuring that the design scales appropriately to the capabilities of the user’s browser or device which is part of the production vetting process.

Desktop browser testing: we test our work in current versions of major desktop browsers including those made by Apple (Safari), Google (Chrome), Microsoft (Internet Explorer), Mozilla Firefox and Opera.

Mobile browser testing: testing popular small-screen devices is essential in ensuring that a person’s experience of a design is appropriate to the capabilities of the device they are using.

Dependent on your requirements I either need a small brief for a simple logo or a more detailed one for a brochure or any other more complexed printing or digital needs. In the first instance it’s best fill out the form on this page.

Pricing.

Pinpointing the cost of a website as a Squarespace designer can be rather intricate, owing to the distinctiveness of each project. Each website carries its own set of nuances in design, functionality, and client requisites, making pricing a bit difficult which is why I don’t have a package list. Nevertheless, as a broad rule of thumb, my Squarespace design services typically command £350 per day or £50 per hour. The intricacy of a website significantly influences the time commitment involved, with projects spanning anywhere from a couple of days to several weeks. It's a delicate equilibrium, ensuring that the client's vision is realised while navigating the difficulties inherent in crafting a digital space that truly captivates. Once we have settled on a brief, however, the process becomes more manageable and I can cost the project accurately. I work closely with my clients throughout, aligning every design decision with their goals and aspirations.
